Peace & Love
The Symbols that Epitomized the
1960s
The
powerful symbol started as a logo used by the nuclear disarmament movement
in Britain. An American college student saw it in England and brought back a button for the Student Peace Union to use as its symbol. By the
late 1960s the symbol had gone international and it was adopted as the
international emblem for the anti-war movement and the counterculture
of the time.
