  4. PRINT-Signed and Numbered Jefferson Airplane Print by David Byrd

    $250.00
JEFFERSON AIRPLANE 1968 Created by artist David Byrd this was the second poster for the Fillmore East and was based on a fascination I had for Egyptian temple painting and my feeling that Grace Slick could have been a Queen of the Nile, at least she could drink like one. The show was opened by Arthur Brown, who at the time was famous for setting his hair on fire as a finale. I conceived of the Airplane band standing on the wing of an Egyptian biplane, in hues of terra-cotta, turquoise, & ochre watercolor with black Ink on a cream-colored board. Signed and Numbered 8/100 Learn More

  5. Print-Signed David Byrd An Aquarian Exposition 1969

    $250.00
WOODSTOCK: An Aquarian Exposition 1969 In the spring of 1969, Woodstock Ventures asked David Byrd to do a poster for the large outdoor concert they were planning for the village of Woodstock, NY. in August of that year. He based the poster on Ingre’s La Source and surrounded that image with cupids, flowers and hearts in jewel-tone colors. After I delivered the art to the printer in late June, I left for a month in the Caribbean to a town with 30 people and no telephone. During this time, the town of Woodstock forbade the show and it had to be moved to Max Yasgur's farm. As he was not available to do a new poster, it was done by another artist, and appropriately became very famous, while this version is mostly forgotten. Black ink, transparent dyes, tempera. Central drawing on buff paper in colored pencil Learn More
